¿Qué es la elección de escuela? La elección de escuela es el proceso de permitir que cada familia elija las opciones educativas K-12 que mejor se adapten a sus hijos. Cada niño es único y todos los niños aprenden de manera diferente. Algunos niños pueden tener éxito en la escuela pública del vecindario, mientras que otros pueden encajar mejor en un entorno de aprendizaje chárter, magnet, en línea, privado o en el hogar. ¡Es por eso que la elección de escuela es tan importante!

As we begin December, I look back and think how quickly the school year has gone by so far! I would like to thank each and every one of you for your patience and support as we work through this transition of leadership. Your kindness and patience are something I am grateful for.

We know that the holiday season is a hectic one, where people can be coming and going, always in a rush. However, as a community, we have to be sure that we are paying attention to what matters most – the safety of our children. That is why we wanted to take some time to remind our families of a few of the protocols we have in place to help us ensure student safety. We know these protocols may take a few extra moments, but in the end, they are worth the time they take.

• First, please be prepared to answer a few important questions when entering MAA, and be prepared to show identification for the purpose of dismissing or speaking with your child.
• If your child is going to be absent, please inform the school as soon as possible. If we do not hear from a parent or guardian, the school will need to contact you; please be sure we have the correct phone number on file.
• Lastly, if you call the school and ask for information regarding your child, please be prepared to wait or even receive a call back. We cannot share any information over the phone until we have confirmed who we are speaking with, ensuring we have authorization from the parent or guardian to communicate with the person requesting the information.

Al comenzar diciembre, miro hacia atrás y pienso en lo rápido que ha pasado el año escolar hasta ahora. Me gustaría agradecer a todos y cada uno de ustedes por su paciencia y apoyo mientras trabajamos en esta transición de liderazgo. Su amabilidad y paciencia son algo por lo que estoy agradecida.

•  Sabemos que la temporada navideña es agitada, donde la gente puede ir y venir, siempre apurada. Sin embargo, como comunidad, debemos estar seguros de que estamos prestando atención a lo que más importa: la seguridad de nuestros niños. Es por eso que queríamos tomarnos un tiempo para recordarles a nuestras familias algunos de los protocolos que tenemos para ayudarnos a garantizar la seguridad de los estudiantes. Sabemos que estos protocolos pueden tomar algunos minutos adicionales, pero al final, valen la pena el tiempo que toman.
• Primero, esté preparado para responder algunas preguntas importantes al ingresar a MAA y esté preparado para mostrar una identificación con el fin de despedir o hablar con su hijo.

Well, here we go! The 2nd quarter of the school year has officially started. It appears our stretch of warm weather is over (keeping my fingers crossed)! I hope you are all able to enjoy it. With this in mind, please remember to send your child to school with appropriate clothing for outdoor play as the weather keeps cooling down.

I would like to wish you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving and a terrific holiday season. Over the next weeks, I am sure many of you will be busy preparing for family and friends to visit. As this holiday season progresses, it is important to keep in mind how the interruptions of the holidays impact the students. We would ask that you take an extra moment to help your child focus and stay on task with schoolwork while enjoying this time of year.

Winter showcases are coming up; check the calendar in this newsletter for dates and times. I am looking forward to seeing
all of our talented students.

Our Student Council has been busy planning events for our school community. Please keep an eye out for flyers with more information.

Bueno, ¡aquí vamos! El segundo trimestre del año escolar ha comenzado oficialmente. ¡Parece que nuestra racha de clima cálido ha terminado (cruzando los dedos)! Espero que todos puedan disfrutarlo. Con esto en mente, recuerde enviar a su hijo a la escuela con la ropa adecuada para jugar al aire libre a medida que el clima sigue enfriándose.

Me gustaría desearles a ustedes y a sus familias un Día de Acción de Gracias muy feliz y una excelente temporada navideña. Durante las próximas semanas, estoy seguro de que muchos de ustedes estarán ocupados preparándose para la visita de familiares y amigos. Dear Mesa Arts Academy Families,

It’s hard to believe it’s October! I’m always amazed at how quickly time passes. Our teachers have been busy getting to know each and every one of your children and building a community in the classroom. These past months we assessed all students to determine each child’s strengths and areas of growth. We are using this information to set goals for your children and to guide instruction. Thank-you all who showed up for their child’s/children conferences. We have so many great successes happening and we are proud to partner with you in education. The key for success is two way communication. We look forward to meeting with you to discuss the essential ingredients that go into making this year the best ever for our students.
